The NFL continues to slowly add to the football inventory in London, announcing Tuesday there would be three games there next season, as was mentioned here on Sept. 29.
In addition to the usual suspect Jaguars, the Falcons and Raiders will also play “home games” there, with the dates and opponents to be announced later this year.
“Our fans in the UK have continued to demonstrate that they love football and want more,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “Both of this year’s games in London sold out quickly. The fan enthusiasm for our sport continues to grow. By playing two games in the UK this year, we are creating more fans. We hope that with three games in London next year we will attract even more people to our game.”
Englanders got to enjoy a good game between bad teams already this year, with the Vikings and Steelers playing, with the Jaguars and 49ers playing there on Oct. 27.
Of course, it’s a logistical problem for the teams. For the Raiders, that will be over 10,000 miles round trip for a home game, but at least they won’t need tarps at Wembley Stadium.
